David De Gea thread of some of the times he’s cost us directly or indirectly. #mufc #CHEMUN 1. FA cup semi final 1st goal. If you’re not going to command your 6 yard box. At least stop the shot.

3. Fa cup semi final 3rd goal. Carbon copy of first. Defenders equally to blame but still poor attempt from the highest paid GK in world football.

6. Vs PSG. After a weak attempt for Neymars goal where De Gea’s attempt to save = turning away from the shot and sticking out a leg. He does the same here. REMINDER: GKs generally can use their entire body including their hands to stop shots. A braver GK jumps towards the ball

7. Vs Leipzig. Once again I reiterate, a braver GK uses his body to jump onto the ball or at least put off the attacker. Honestly use your brains. Using his habit of sticking out 1 leg to block a shot is way less surface area to block than if he used his entire body frame

8. V Everton. 1st goal. Start of the comeback for the visitors. Slippery fingers from the ‘gOaT’ once again..

9. V Everton 2nd goal. This one I want to highlight as I think this is a bigger problem than the clearer mistakes listed above. Look at where the cross is placed. Other GKs come out and catch this ball and we gain possession = less chances for opposition.

10. V Everton 3rd goal. Once again a braver GK uses their entire body frame to get towards the ball. Our beloved De Gea this time didn’t even try the lame usual attempt at sticking out one leg. This was pathetic honestly..

11. V West Brom. A more clearer example of what lack of catching crosses leads to. The ball and the attacker are literally in De Gea’s 6 yard box. The cross was from deep so our defense has no business being this deep but it’s what you do when you don’t have a commanding GK.

12. Vs Sheffield Utd 1st goal. This IMO was a foul but it’s not the first time we’ve seen our GK targeted particularly for his weaknesses coming out and catching crosses. We’ve conceded many goals like this in De Gea’s time.

13. Vs Sheffield Utd 2nd goal. Poor distribution or just simply lack of intelligence in this situation. Also the fact that Maguire even needs to get to this ball in the 6 yard box before passing it to De Gea shows how weak his commanding of his area is.

15. V Atalanta 2nd goal. The ball is coming into the box. Attacker on rushing. Not one single attempt to try and close down the striker or close off the space he has to shoot. Opposition players literally walk into his 6 yard box unchallenged with time to pick their spots..

16. V Villarreal Europa League Final. De Gea actually has a good starting position but instead of going toward the ball he backs away from it. Leading to him falling back as he attempt to save the shot at his near post. This is a complete lack of basic GK techniques.

17. V City. Bruno opens up to play back to De Gea. He cowardly points at Wan Bissaka to get the ball instead. We lose possession. City’s initial cross should be caught. Instead he leaves it for a city shot and get his highlight save. City keep possession and go on to score.

This last one is the clearest example of what a lack of catching crosses equates too. It equates to opposition keeping possession and creating more chances. De Gea is bottom of the table for claimed crosses. Highest paid GK in the world btw. Talk about standards …
