"They've had twelve years. They made a mess. Every time they say they'll clean it up, they make it worse. It's time for change." This is the undeniable, irresistible message for the next election. This is the uppermost thought with which voters must enter the booth.

In response to our story, a member of Johnson’s family posts an image boarding what appears to be a private jet. “Living up to what the paper said.” Plus the emoji: 🤭. Their firm made 21,700% increase on pre-pandemic profits after winning £149m contract for mostly unused PPE.
EXCLUSIVE: A businessman made £70m in profit on contract for PPE that was 70% unused — and celebrated his birthday last week by eating “briefcase of cash” cake on private yacht Philip Johnson has paid himself £13m dividend as family lives life of luxury thetimes.co.uk/article/dde89…

Rather than attacking a civil organisation, what do you think of the substance of the case? Do you think it’s okay for ministers to communicate with personal contacts on government business of significant public interest, in a totally opaque way that leaves no public record?

What Elon Musk’s Twitter files have revealed so far is that content moderation at Twitter WAS being decided by a team of people with differing viewpoints. Now it’s being decided by the richest man on Earth with an axe to grind against one political party — a true scandal.

Elon Musk paid $44 billion to discover what we already knew: content moderation is messy and involves whole teams of people with a range of viewpoints trying to appease different political factions. He then gave “leaks” to a Substack Man to present it as a blockbuster.

Less than 2 months ago, the most high-profile hosts on America's most-watched cable channel were heaping praise ("wise," "authentic", "truthful", "smart guy") on a man who today praised Hitler & the Nazis. Will there be any consequences? Retractions? Apologies? Of. Course. Not.
Fox News dedicated more than two and a half hours of largely fawning coverage to Kanye West in the days immediately before he made antisemitic remarks mediamatters.org/fox-news/fo…

1/ The 11th Circuit opinion in Trump v. U.S. was interesting for reasons beyond the holding & the emphatic NO it delivered to Trump. It exposed the extraordinary number of classified documents in Trump’s possession, laying out the crime the special counsel is preparing to charge.

It's really important to note that it's not just far-right figures or some fringe celebrating this. @MarcoRubio had a whole campaign ad attacking Twitter for banning white supremacists, & has spent the past few weeks thanking Musk for bringing them back to the platform.
Twitter has reinstated the account of Andrew Anglin, editor of the neo-Nazi website Daily Stormer. His account was suspended nearly a decade ago.

I hate a public shaming of pretty much any nature, but there is a strange cognitive dissonance between people who think Shamima Begum was adult enough to make her own choices but Lady Hussey wasn't.
