(PUP) has always been there supporting everyone in their time of need, both in the #LongIsland
, NY community and globally, regardless of if they have four legs or two.
Now they need us to be there for them.
Whether it be offering sanctuary to elderly and disabled animals, supporting victims of domestic violence and their pets, rehabilitating animal victims of cruelty and neglect, helping our #Maasai
friends in Kenya support animal welfare, or standing by our Afghan animal welfare colleagues after they fled for their lives from the Taliban; saving lives is just what PUP does. Whenever someone is in need, PUP is always the first to volunteer to help.
I have been fortunate to work closely beside PUP's president, Meredith Festa, for the last 2 years while working to relocate America's friends and allies left behind during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021. I quickly learned that Meredith cannot stand idly by and turn a blind eye towards injustices of any kind. If there's a way to help someone, she will do it - often without even being asked. She will go without to make sure that others have what they need.
If I won the lottery, I would without question give everything to Meredith.
In July of 2023, Meredith had a major setback which landed her in the hospital with heart problems - apparently having a literal big heart is a bad thing. This rough patch has caused her to miss several important grant deadlines and has impacted her ability to raise the funds necessary to fund all of PUP's important programs.
Please help us ensure that PUP will not have to turn away anyone in need so they can continue to provide the support for all those who need them.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
