@PawsUnitePeople (PUP) has always been there supporting everyone in their time of need, both in the #LongIsland, NY community and globally, regardless of if they have four legs or two. Now they need us to be there for them. Whether it be offering sanctuary to elderly and disabled animals, supporting victims of domestic violence and their pets, rehabilitating animal victims of cruelty and neglect, helping our #Maasai friends in Kenya support animal welfare, or standing by our Afghan animal welfare colleagues after they fled for their lives from the Taliban; saving lives is just what PUP does. Whenever someone is in need, PUP is always the first to volunteer to help. I have been fortunate to work closely beside PUP's president, Meredith Festa, for the last 2 years while working to relocate America's friends and allies left behind during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021. I quickly learned that Meredith cannot stand idly by and turn a blind eye towards injustices of any kind. If there's a way to help someone, she will do it - often without even being asked. She will go without to make sure that others have what they need. If I won the lottery, I would without question give everything to Meredith. In July of 2023, Meredith had a major setback which landed her in the hospital with heart problems - apparently having a literal big heart is a bad thing. This rough patch has caused her to miss several important grant deadlines and has impacted her ability to raise the funds necessary to fund all of PUP's important programs. Please help us ensure that PUP will not have to turn away anyone in need so they can continue to provide the support for all those who need them. When the #OperationMagicCarpet group was abandoned by the people who moved them out of AFGH, they were told no country would take them, and it was hopeless. When Lucky was dumped by a larger rescue, the same was said. Well... Lucky is doing fabulous AND of the 58 people we "inherited"... 2 have gone to Romania. We have found countries to accept MOST of them, and are waiting on processing to Usa and Canada. We can finish the final 11 we need to do IF we can raise more funds for legal fees. We have $1750 toward the $6000 needed. I was able to negotiate another 2 days... but that's it. If we don't pull it off, opportunities are lost. After all the effort put in, that makes me sad 💔 We are small, tired, and out of reserves... but we are still fighting for these brave people and to keep our Animal Shelter in NY open. Just because something is hard does not mean it is impossible. These are lives. These are people who worked every day to make a difference in this world. You don't bail on people because it's hard. You try harder. The cats and dogs at our shelter were also given up on by others... and Lucky was worth EVERY MOMENT AND EFFORT made. Please help us... The man in this video has a P2 case to USA. So that was a lie. Of the 58 who were dropped like a hot potato, we have sorted all the paperwork for all but 11. We need $2700 for that. 2 have gone to Romania. We have found countries to accept MOST of them, and are waiting on processing to USA and Canada.
