Charges for administrators who do these
Sun Valley High School students in North Carolina were startled when their teachers locked doors, turned off lights, and told them to hide. Police were in the halls. Fearing the worst, they sent panicked goodbyes to their parents. But it was just a “spontaneous lockdown drill.”

mental illness sometimes causes people to act in unacceptable ways. its ok to say those behaviors are bad. but it's genuinely harmful to pretend that their mental illness could not possibly have contributed to them & it must purely be because they're inherently evil people

i get the very real desire here to avoid stigmatizing mental illness but minimizing its affects and pretending it never causes negative behavior is infantilizing and not actually supportive of people with mental illness.

we gotta stop this thing where we pretend mental illness just makes you weird and quirky and bad at sending emails and could never cause any actual bad behavior
I have a friend with bipolar disorder I've known 15 yrs and when he gets manic he stays up really late memorizing song lyrics and every so often he'll call demanding I play him at FIFA immediately but he somehow manages to never hand it to Hitler so idk about this excuse for Ye

“Iran acknowledges 200 deaths during protests & asks Russia for help to suppress protests” iranintl.com/en/202212034392 What a throwback to XIX c. when Russia was considered as “policemen of Europe” under czar Nicholas I (who ended up losing Crimean War to Anglo-French coalition).

When we asked about this yesterday, we were told that we were spreading gossip and it was beneath the Washington Post by the AG spokesman. Today, they say they’ve done an investigation and he’s resigned.
Breaking News: Ibrahim Khan, the longtime chief of staff to the New York attorney general, Letitia James, has resigned over his involvement in at least two separate sexual harassment allegations, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter. nyti.ms/3UAAyAE

The reason many right-wingers are intensely relaxed about a Starmer government is because they believe that nothing substantial will really change.
"Keir Starmer strikes me as not a bad option." Tory MP Sir Charles Walker tells @krishgm while he'd "still prefer a Conservative prime minister", the idea of a country led by the Labour leader doesn't keep him "awake at night".

Seems like a solution to "not having enough workers" would be to make it easier for folks from other countries to obtain full citizenship if they move here to start a new life.
Big takeaways from today's jobs report: 1) Job market is still pretty hot. +263,000 jobs added 2) Wage growth is still pretty hot. +5.1% --> this will keep inflation up. 3) US doesn't have enough workers. Labor force isn't anywhere close to pre-covid washingtonpost.com/business/…
