Mark Lawrenson has said he thinks his departure from the BBC was down to him being '65 and a white male'. He was told of format changes to this year's Football Focus back in March.

The truth may be that he was sacked becomes he is an old football player and hardly anyone knows who he is anymore. But in an era of identity politics, it is easy to find a reason else where. Why not? Everyone is doing it.

Stole a living for 30 years, worst pundit ever to be put on air . Always sounded like he was doing us a favour by letting us hear his inane ramblings. I can’t remember one substantial thing he did in his broadcasting career. Great player in his day though.
