The time has come for criminal Solicitors and Barristers to join a trade union. There must be a collective bargaining agreement with MOJ et al. I am keen to facilitate a meeting between @TheCriminalBar; @CrimeSolicitors; @lccsa and @UniteSharon. 1/2

.@DominicRaab suggests that I am the “shop steward” for the criminal law profession. I am not but it is clear the professions need to organise. I have already met senior trade union leaders to explain the desperate need for trade union representation for lawyers in the CJS. 2/2

I see @DamianHinds blaming barristers' strike for need to house prisoners in police cells instead of jails, due to rising numbers. He claims since @TheCriminalBar strike, prisoners up from 79,800 to 82,700. But before strike, it was at 14-year high & 79,600+ in jail last year.

No wonder Sunak won’t lift the charitable status on private schools and make them pay the VAT like other businesses have to do? 🤷🏼‍♂️
As I reported in May, Rishi Sunak is set to spend £63,000 in private school fees next year. He could personally be saving £12,600 by keeping the tax break in place.* mirror.co.uk/news/politics/r… *Assuming schools passed on the VAT directly to customers.
