Wonderful visit this afternoon with @Ed_Miliband talking with John Eagan from Progressive Energy, Niall MacFaddian and the University of Chester about the potential for Chester's hydro hub education centre and the opportunities for a green industrial future under Labour.

Delighted to be in #Chester yesterday with @CllrSDixon. Sam would be a brilliant MP for the City of Chester. She cares about her community and would be an eloquent, powerful advocate for her City. I urge people to vote for her on Thursday.

After 12 years of failure on energy efficiency, a serious government would not think that helping 0.3% of the 19 million homes in need of an upgrade- with no new resources- is good enough. At that snail's pace rate, it would take almost 300 years to get where we need to!

We don't have time to wait. A national Warm Homes Plan could upgrade 2 million homes a year, saving families up to 拢1,000 off their bills. Rishi Sunak wants to crawl towards warmer homes and cheaper bills. Labour will sprint for it- because that is what the bills crisis demands

New Ofgem figures are a stark reminder that the energy bills crisis has not gone away. It is plain wrong that Rishi Sunak is giving multi-billion pound tax breaks to oil and gas companies - money that could be used to help families news.sky.com/story/the-recor鈥

It is also shameful that this Government is waiting three years to start a proper home insulation programme 聽Labour鈥檚 Warm Homes Plan would have helped eight million pensioners and families save up to 拢1,000 on their annual bills by the time Rishi Sunak has even lifted a finger

Only Labour can bring down bills once and for all, with our plan to make Britain a clean energy superpower, including GB Energy - a publicly owned energy generation company that will cut bills, create jobs, and take back control of our energy.

Every two and a half minutes the Tories give 拢10,000 of your money to oil and gas companies. They might as well put it in a shredder. Labour would have a proper windfall tax to help lower your energy bills.

It鈥檚 cheaper to save the planet than destroy it. @Ed_Miliband & @GeoffLloyd find out why at #COP27 with: 馃@KingsmillBond, Energy Strategist @RockyMtnInst 鈿★笍锔@Tzeporah, Chair @fossiltreaty 馃實@mohadow, Director @PowerShftAfrica 馃帶pod.fo/e/150e36

The Tories have given up on growth. Labour鈥檚 Green Prosperity Plan will create good jobs & opportunities as we tackle climate change. We'll scrap business rates and replace them with a fairer system & make the UK the best place to start up a business. bbc.co.uk/news/business-6369鈥

#COP27 has delivered an important step in recognising the consequences of the climate crisis for countries on its frontline. But yet again we hear the unmistakable sound of the can being kicked down the road on action to keep global warming to 1.5C - and it's now at grave risk.

Too many countries were resistant to what's needed, including on fossil fuels. Despite the efforts of Alok Sharma, there was a total absence of leadership from the UK PM whose most memorable act was to decide not to go to COP27, before he was forced to do so out of embarrassment.

This is a deeply worrying sign for the vital year ahead. The UK government must step up in the next year, in the run up to the Global Stocktake in 2023, which may be the last chance to save 1.5 degrees.

That means delivering at home to lead the way and pressure other countries to act. Labour would forge ahead with a clean energy sprint for cheap, homegrown zero-carbon power. That is the only way to cut bills, build energy security, create jobs, and drive global climate action.

6/The tragedy of all this is that Britain has a chance to lead at home and abroad on clean energy 鈥 cutting bills, creating jobs, growing our economy, providing energy security, and tackling the climate crisis. This government has shown yet again it cannot do it.
