The “HOLY MOTHER OF GOD” tweet was exactly 1 year ago today. For those who have been with me this past year, I hope and pray your families are safe. Let’s work together to end this pandemic. #COVID19 nymag.com/intelligencer/amp/…

“Those who don’t study history are doomed to repeat it. Those who do study history are doomed to stand by helplessly while everyone else repeats it”. ^How I feel about this fall/winter #COVID surge. HT to whoever is the artist.

If we don’t do anything to change course, we will repeat the suffering of previous pandemic winters. #CovidIsNotOver
How epidemiologists feel about this incoming winter’s #COVID wave. How climate scientists feel about mitigating #ClimateCrisis if denialists keep getting elected/appointed.

Failed leadership in Florida. Florida’s DeSantis never learns.
“Hundreds of dead bodies” found in Lee County, Florida—where FL leadership failed to warn residents to evacuate until it was too late. This failure to act fast is the same reason FL has high pandemic excess deaths. @SarahBurris @Acosta @DWUhlfelderLaw

Florida leadership didn’t think people needed to evacuate from this until it was too late… #HurricaneIan

It’s not “20” dead as officially reported by FL leaders. It’s now “hundreds”. I’ve seen the death minimization and denialism before.

I think of one thing when I see this horrifying video… if only DeSantis could have spent millions of his dollars to help evacuate these people north… instead of wasting millions on some scheme to send people to Martha’s Vineyard.
DeSantis supports decision to not evacuate this area.

My across-the-hall neighbor died of a stroke last night. She’d had Covid three times; the third time was two weeks ago. She was 28.

🧵 Let’s talk about exceptionalism + individualism, and how they drive the pandemic. When vaccination mandates came to pass, some ppl fought them tooth + nail + still now believe their “unjabbed” status makes them impervious to Covid + Long Covid.

We have been investigating the delayed evacuations in Lee County, where Hurricane Ian's death toll is at 16 rising. Gov. DeSantis and local leaders said that officials acted swiftly in response to forecasts. But there is much more to the story… 1/10 nytimes.com/2022/09/30/us/hu…

Peter Thiel is also a billionaire activist born in another country who acquired US citizenship later in life, and who now gives a lot of money to political candidates of his choice. But only George Soros is so routinely identified as "foreign-born." Wonder why.
No nation in the history of mankind would tolerate a foreign-born rich guy intentionally tearing their country apart with his money. None. Not a single one. All would have handled the problem. That we do is just more proof we won’t be here in 100 years. breitbart.com/immigration/20…

Climate change will be a lot harder to mitigate than Covid, and we clearly failed miserably with Covid. Does not portend well for the future.

4) So just how bad is this bill that will now legalize fake blind trusts? It’s a doozy… but here it goes… see thread 🧵 by @waltshaub below. I’m absolutely disgusted by it. I want to vomit 🤮
Let me paint a picture for you of what happens if Pelosi’s stock trading ban is enacted. It’s so bad. Step 1: Let’s say Trump’s elected in 2024. (But this scenario would work with Desantis. Frankly, it would work with Biden, but you’re not ready to believe me on that yet.) /1
