As far as I鈥檓 aware no-one ever claimed the vaccine prevents you from catching Covid but in most cases lessens the severity of the virus

They didn't. Why don't you back that up- from the start Pfizer and Moderna said there was a rough 95% effectivity rate reducing potential for getting the disease.
